baby’s heartbeat

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 7:47 am on Saturday, June 28, 2008

we finally heard our baby’s heartbeat using a fetal stethoscope today! well the reason that it is this late is because we purposely didn’t want to use sonograms or dopplers early on or even have the baby be unnecessarily exposed to it… it’s just a personal choice that we made early on the pregnancy.

… but it’s so cool to finally hear your baby’s heartbeat! well we knew beforehand that the baby’s alive and well coz it’s moving and kicking a lot … but actually hearing a heartbeat is equally awesome. :-)

well, thought i might just share that exciting news.. and have a little update in here as well :-)

may you all have a happy sabbath!

an update :-)

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 1:45 am on Thursday, June 19, 2008

it’s been exciting lately… david and i are starting a new business called green earth solutions. so far we’ve received a lot of calls just from advertising at craigs… it’s exciting because you rely on God day to day and trust him to provide for everything and He does! everyday is a new and faith-boosting experience :-)

our little one inside my belly is an active lil one. this week, as i am on my 23rd week of pregnancy, he can hear outside noises already and can hear daddy’s voice. david talks to him all the time :-)

father’s day went well with well-wishes from family and friends around the world… david is getting used to the fact that he’s going to be a daddy soon :-)

we decided to not go to the Philippines this year for the feast for reasons which are beyond our control and weighing the practicality of going this time, we think it is just wiser to stay put for now.

the feast will be so close to my due date and the wedding of my brother richard is actually at my due date. if i go, i need to travel a month and a half in advance and stay there for at least a month and a half as well. it’s just too much time away from work for David especially now that our business is gaining momentum and we don’t want to be separated unnecessarily anymore especially with an upcoming baby. and besides, if i’m full blown and ready to pop any time, it would cause too much stress on our family’s part (knowing that our family is very busy during feast times and with an added wedding to attend to just a day prior to the feast , and guests all over to attend to, and finding the right midwife for us) it would be too mcuh to handle and we don’t want to add to that burden. i know my family won’t mind and they would love for us to be there… but we think it would be better for everyone and for us if we didn’t go this time. (as much as we would love to be with them for this feast)

another factor is that we’re very comfortable with our current midwife having gotten to know her well. she’s the kind of natural healthcare provider we would want to have anyway. she respects what we want and her philosophies and views about childbirth and child rearing are very similar to ours. her abilities from her years of experience and training, we have confidence in and are comfortable with, so we think we should jsut stick with her all throughout the pregnancy and labor.

anywayz, those are the recent updates and developments. we are looking forward to the baby’s birth and for God to bless our humble beginnings :-)

we wish you all a wonderful rest of the week!

missing my family…

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 3:34 am on Friday, June 6, 2008

we just concluded a wonderful week of family time here with my dad, mom and meryl in colorado. it was just last tuesday that they left but i already miss them a lot. :-) i cannot wait to be back in the philippines to be with the rest of the family as well and spend time with everyone. we just hope and pray that plans would push through of going back to the PI…

as far as how my pregnancy is coming along, i am already at week 21 (i think i’m at 6 months already.. or if not yet, approaching it very soon!) the baby’s been moving a lot and david already can feel the baby kick :-) meryl got that opportunity too :-) it was just wonderful.

i’ve got some bad news.. my camera broke :-( so no more pictures from me for a while. it was such a bummer that i did not download the pictures from my camera before it broke… and i was hoping to get a lot of good photos from my family’s visit here. but good thing, meryl has a complete documentary of our activities and memories so i just asked a copy of those photos and i’ll upload their colorado trip here.

anywayz, sorry for this being so short but this is the latest news for now. may you all have a wonderful week ahead!

take care and until nex time!

… back in colorado

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 4:08 am on Tuesday, May 20, 2008

it’s nice to be back home after being away for a couple weeks and having to sit in the car for 15 hours on the way back…

great news! ~ i think and i am pretty sure that i am feeling the baby move already. actually he’s been moving a lot lately and i can’t wait until his movements can be felt by others rather than jsut by me :-) i especially want to share the special event with david. so far, he’s pretty excited and is talking to the baby and feeling my tummy a lot :-)

i just turned 19 weeks this sunday and i’ll be half way there next week, just in time when my parents and sister arrive :-) they would be just in time when the baby can hear sounds and recognize voices and respond to them :-)

anywayz, lately my back has been really hurting. david is so good with keeping up with the task of rubbing and massaging my back all the time :-)

well so much for pregnancy news …

other than that, we are busy planning and preparing our place for my parents and sister’s arrival. we actually are making up a day to day itinerary for when they are here coz there’s not much to do here at our tiny little place.. hehe :-) so we need to take them to places and have them experience real colorado livin’ :-)

.. well, i will be updating as to how everything will go…

… so until next time!

… i need to take my nap :-)

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 2:40 am on Friday, May 9, 2008

just so you all know coz i haven’t updated my blog or my week by week belly pictures :-)

we are still in texas and our laptop’s having some problems. i’m using my dad-in-law’s laptop right now.

i have loads of pictures but i cannot upload them yet :-(

my belly’s getting big!!!

i think i felt the baby move but i don’t know if i am just imagining it because of my wishful thinking and my excitement for it to move. so i don’t know if i’m just making it up :-P hehehe… i’ll wait for a few more weeks until i am positively sure that that was the baby moving :-)

it’s really nice to spend time with family… and speaking of family, my parents and my little sister meryl will be arriving in just a few short weeks! they’ll be staying with us in colorado the last week of May. WE ARE SO EXCITED! hehehe

we need to get back to colorado soon to fix up the house and clean up :-P hehehe

thats it for a short update, hope you guys are doing well. until next time!

Colorado-California Road trip/2nd trimester!

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 7:07 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Hello again!

We’ve got some adventures lately… We just came from a very looong travel… we travelled going to Northern California by train which took 33 hours (Denver-Sacramento) and then rented a car going up North to go to David’s old town, Redding, to visit some old friends and at the same time, do some business there.

The experience in the train was really nice! It’s actually very comfortable… way much more comfortable than in a plane or in a car… but take the train only if you got the time :-) hehe (which we have) For all it’s worth, riding a train can get you to savor and see the beauty of the country and you get the opportunity to meet really nice people from different races and walks of life. We have gained more of an international perspective and were educated by it. We mostly got to talk and spend time with people from Europe and really made good friends with a couple from Germany… We even got some German down :-) hehe..

It is good to meet different kinds of people and travel to places, coz it is a motivation to learn languages other than English or that of your native language. You get to realize that the world is such a big place and full of things to learn and appreciate, there is so much you can learn just by talking to people from different places.

Anywayz, from Colorado, we passed through, Utah, then Nevada, and then California.. It’s just 3 states but it feels like it takes forever!!! The states are so big and so spread out! We got to see mountains and flat lands, snow & desert, rivers & lakes, animals like deer, buffalo, horses, cows, birds etc..

When we arrived Sacramento, (finally!!) it was so HOT! i even don’t remember it being that hot in the Philippines. It just hit me like a wall. Well, they said that day was excpetionally hot and is not like that all the time… but wow, talk about being ‘re-acclimated’ :-)

But, California is beautiful… it’s so green and sunny!… i was missing the Philippines coz I was seeing palm trees and with the temperature and being green everywhere, it just feels like home. (except California is cleaner and wider) hehehe

Anywayz, we took the car to go to our friend’s place up in Redding, stayed there for the night and they hosted us very well. David knows them since he was a little boy. And then, the following day, David took me to see where he used to go when he was in high school and where he used to live up in the mountains. It was very pretty but sad to say, it was getting dark… but it was beautiful. It was pretty cool to walk down memory lane with him… it is nice to see his life before we even met :-)

Going back was a pain in the butt.. LOL… it just took forever again! We passed through the mountains in California, then to Nevada, then to Utah, to Wyoming and then to Colorado.

It was quite an adventure, with me being on my second trimester. I bet the baby has a pretty good idea now of what it is like to be on the road :-)

I have new pictures uploaded on my pregnant state and in US living, California trip.

Hope you all are having a good week!

sweet child of mine :-)

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 6:28 am on Thursday, April 3, 2008

I’m officially 3 months pregnant! :-D (i’m currently listening to “sweet child of mine” thus the inspiration for the title for my blog :-P)

although i’m tired and hungry all the time, i’m excited for the following weeks ahead where i’d officially be in my second trimester :-) i want to feel the baby inside me already :-) and of course, i want to be over the fatigue and hunger and just the constant ” i don’t know what i want” LOL i’ve been such a baby lately and david’s been wonderful all the time :-D

things have been great so far… but i’m so sad for meryl whose hard disk crashed :-( … i know that feeling of helplessness… all your years of hard work being erased in a single stroke. i just pray that things will not be that bad as she could recover some of her important files and work… i know she is working towards a deadline for blacktie solutions (website design)… and that is huge work! i pray that things will lighten up her already heavy load.

anywayz, i’ve uploaded pictures already… david and i have been busy cleaning and disposing stuff in preparation for the upcoming spring holy days. we disposed david’s gym equipment (finally!) to give us some room here in our tiny apartment :-) now, it looks more spacious and liveable :-)

but there’s more preparation to do… most of it is not really on the physical but mostly on the spritiual level… let’s just pray for each other as the holy days approaches… coz as we all know, things get tougher and the enemy will jsut throw all sorts of trials and roadblocks to keep us off-track and not be focused on the more important things.. let’s pray for spiritual strength and protection for all of our brothers and sisters around the world.

until next time, let’s continue to keep each other in our thoughts and prayers…

First Day of Spring & 10 weeks pregnant!

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 4:18 am on Friday, March 21, 2008

Today is the first day of spring. It’s amazing! David and I took a walk today and found out the first tiny shoots of spring :-) it is very pretty and i’m just happy that the plants and trees are coming back to life :-)

us-17th-19th-week-200.jpgus-17th-19th-week-161.jpg

I’m currently 10 weeks and 4 days pregnant…

us-17th-19th-week-195.jpgus-17th-19th-week-191.jpg

…it seems like forever that i am pregnant and i can’t wait to be over the first trimester :-D but i know that the days will pass by so quickly and i’ll ask myself where have all the days gone by… so i try my best to cherish every moment of every day, even though it can be tough because lately, i’ve just been so tired and not in the mood :-P (i attribute it to always being hungry and not knowing what i would like to eat) so that can be frustrating at times… :-) but i’ve noticed that after i take my walks, i feel so much better and my appetite returns.. :-) so i’ll just continue doing that.

it’s crazy, a lot of pregnant people nowadays! not only in hollywood, pregnant women i see at the malls, but also in our extendedd family and our friends/contemporaries at church! it is crazy cool! something must be in the air.. hehe :-) but i’m happy for all of us pregnant ladies!!!

2 weeks ago, we had a church spring banquet and dance. that was so fun and i’m sure everyone had a great time.

i’ll be posting pictures up my gallery: US living - 17th-19th week… plus a new album on my belly pictures starting at week 9 :-)

sorry for this being such a short and long-awaited update… i’ll try to update more often and have more to say.. :-) i jsut took a long walk today and i feel that i rreaallly need to take a nap .. :-P :-)

but, thanks for all the comments everyone, please have a nice day/week! :-) until next time…

Surprise visit to Wisconsin :-)

Filed under: Minuets — Cheryl at 2:11 am on Thursday, February 28, 2008

I have been away for a week for a surprise visit to my sister laurie. Everyone knows about the trip except her :-P hehe… It turned out to be a really nice surprise and a very memorable and enjoyable week. :-)

It was snowing when i arrived and it was continuously snowing for the next couple days i’ve been there. Nevertheless, that didn’t keep us from going out and enjoying the malls and shopping :-P lol

Jeb and Jordan were waiting for me at the airport for like 4-5 hours since Jeb thought the time I would be arriving at 10:30 am (MST) (which was the time I was still leaving the Denver airport LOL) I would still be arriving at around 1:45 (CST) in the afternoon… so poor them, they’ve been waiting for me and spending their “daddy-son” day at the airport going up and down escalators.. LOL (but they said, they had fun so i believe them :-)) it was nice of them to wait and fetch me though :-D

anywayz, they were there waiting for me as I was walking up to the terminal baggage… it was soo nice to see them! i took a picture of them before even going up to hug them (it turned out blurry but i still uploaded it anyway) :-) It was good to see Jeb for after almost 5 years and Jordan has grown so big. last time I saw him was 2 years ago when he was still a baby of 7 months. It was funny, jordan kept calling me “mommy, mommy!” (it was so cute but i told him i am not his mommy.. “i am your aunt cheryl. mommy’s at home and she doesn’t know i’m coming so we are going to surprise her…” he laughed as though he understood lol) jordan was way too happy and chirpy all through our trip home (1 hour and 30 mins something).. he just kept on giggling and didn’t take his afternoon nap. :-)

on our trip home, jeb and i were devising a plan on how to keep the surprise to the optimum level. we came up with the plan of jeb going into the house first with the excuse of needing to use the bathroom and asking laurie to come out and get jordan from his car seat. i was already covered in blankets with my camera ready to take a shot of laurie. she just screamed when i came out of the blankets together with a flash from my camera. :-) hehe.. actually i took a blurry one first so i told her to do it again as if she saw me for the first time… so the one that i got was a re-enactment..:-)

anywayz, I totally enjoyed spending time with my sister and jeb, jordan and aubrey, as well as also the rest of the Mortier clan. They all have been very hospitable and generous. it was a great week.

pictures are uploaded at my photogallery so take a peek when you can :-) pictures speak more than a thousand words anyway so i don’t have to elaborate more on my stay there :-) overall, it was very good and well worth the time and money flying out there :-)

hopefully next visit will be with david and our little one :-) can’t wait for that time!
